The challenge
This speed-closing tool addresses a common problem faced by all companies which is dealing with issues that occur during the month and annual close routines.
It relies on standard JD Edwards processing preserving existing functionality and country localizations adopted by companies.
Flexible and adaptable solution that allows company/country specific processes to be incorporated.
Notifications settings can be tailored to include any recurring process as required.
The fast-closing tool highlights potential problems so that users can take proactive steps to resolve them before the critical days of the closing.
Companies set up personalized execution plans with routines that need to run for each type of period closing.
All errors are captured and displayed in a single, easy to use screen, eliminating the need to search through pdf outputs or Work Center messages.
Corrective actions are prompted by the tool based on the type of error encountered and can be taken by the user with a single click.
During the identification and resolution of issues, a Knowledge Database is built with instructions and tips on how to resolve the same error for future reference.
Integrity differences between modules are identified at the detail level and with the option to create adjustments for them. New online integrities were created for Accounts Payable x General Accounting and Accounts Receivable x General Accounting, providing easy discrepancies identification and correction.
Dashboards provide a management view of the closing process using self-explanatory charts and lists
How it works
Processes are executed automatically during the close based on pre-defined execution plans where they are organized and grouped into routines. Different execution plans can be configured based on company number, ledger type or type of closing; month, quarter etc.
A single repository for all error messages allows users to quickly identify and analyze the issues. Errors are grouped by process in single screen with a drill down function to view all transactions affected the same error.
For each identified error, the tool will suggest corrective actions that can be taken with a single click, drastically reducing the time spent on error resolution and freeing up resources to focus on value adding activities for the company.
A dashboard page provides a graphic snapshot of the current status of the closing with links to each process in more detail.
